The Best Meatloaf
  1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees.

  2. Slice up the bread into one-inch pieces. Put into a bowl and pour the milk over it, then stir it and set it aside.

  3. Sauté the onion in the butter for about 5 minutes, then add the garlic and cook for one more minute, just until the garlic is fragrant, being careful not to burn it.

  4. Use a fork to mash up the bread.

  5. In a large bowl, combine the ground beef with the bread, the onions and garlic and the remaining ingredients, but do not put the glaze on yet.

  6. You want to gently mix it up, and be careful not to over mix. Over mixing will result in it being dry and tough.

  7. Spread into a large loaf pan and bake for 40 minutes.

  8. While it is in the oven, make the glaze by mixing together all of the ingredients.

  9. After 40 minutes, take the meatloaf out of the oven and cover it with the glaze.

  10. Bake for 20-30 minutes longer or until the internal temperature reaches 160 degrees.

  11. LET IT REST FOR AT LEAST 10 MINUTES AFTER IT IS FINISHED COOKING. NOT DOING SO WILL RESULT IN IT FALLING APART.
