Mom’s Chicken Stroganoff

Chicken breasts- cut in chunks

Flour - start with ¼ C

Seasonings- poultry seasoning (very important!), salt and pepper (use lots!)

Butter - at least a cube but more is better

Broth (chicken or beef or combo) ~ 2C plus

White wine (if you want) ½ C plus😋

Sour cream - at least a cup

I’m not sure about the measurements. Ive always just eyeballed it…

  1. Put flour and seasonings in a paper bag (start with ¼ C and add more if necessary depending on how much chicken you’re using). If you add flour add more seasoning too!

  2. Shake chicken in paper bag to coat each piece. May have to do this in batches

  3. Working in batches, brown chicken in butter. Don’t crowd it. Plan to use a lot of butter adding extra as needed.

  4. Put browned chicken and butter in a crock pot.

  5. Deglaze the chicken pan with broth or white wine then add all to the crockpot

  6. Cover the chicken with broth. Cook 6 hours on low. Don’t open the crockpot!

  7. When finished take some of the broth out and mix it with sour cream (to keep it from curdling) add the broth/sour cream mixture back in to the crockpot.

  8. Taste for seasoning, add additional spice as necessary

Serve over rice or buttered noodles❤️
