Add ham or gammon to slow cooker with 750ml chicken or vegetable stock
Cook on high for 2 hours
Reserve some stock to cook turnip if using
Add cabbage to slow cooker
Cook for another 2 hours
For the parsley sauce: simmer onion, peppercorns, and bay leaves in 400ml whole milk until onions are soft
Strain the infused milk
Melt butter and mix with 2 heaped tablespoons plain flour
Add strained infused milk to butter and flour mixture
Add pinch of nutmeg and ½ cup finely chopped parsley
Add more milk if sauce is too thick
Serve pulled ham with cabbage and parsley sauce
