In a shallow dish (like a pie plate), whisk together the eggs, milk, vanilla, cinnamon, and a pinch of salt until smooth and well combined.
Heat a large skillet over medium-low heat.
Add the butter to the skillet and allow it to melt completely.
Dip a slice of bread into the egg mixture, soaking each side for 20–30 seconds so it’s saturated but not falling apart.
Let any excess mixture drip off the bread.
Place the soaked bread into the hot, buttered skillet.
If your skillet is large enough, repeat the dipping and placing process with a second slice of bread.
Cook the bread for 3–4 minutes on the first side, until it turns dark golden.
Carefully flip the bread and cook the other side for another 3–4 minutes.
Serve immediately while hot, placing the slices on plates.
