Dal Tadka
  1. Put lentils, onion, tomatoes, green chili, turmeric, hing, garam masala, and water in a pot

  2. Boil for 15 minutes until the lentils are soft

  3. Slightly mash the dal

  4. Stir in salt to taste, lemon juice, and chopped cilantro or parsley

  5. Heat oil in a separate pan for about 1 minute

  6. Add minced garlic, hing, chili flakes, and cumin to the hot oil

  7. Heat the tadka mixture for about 1 minute

  8. Pour the tadka over the dal and serve
