Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Wait for it to boil before beginning the next step.
Cook pasta to al dente (about 10-12mins) according to package directions. Begin the next steps while the pasta is cooking.
When it’s done, drain pasta and set aside.
While pasta is cooking, heat 1 Tbsp olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Add sausage and sauté until browned on both sides, about 5 minutes total.
Add onion and sauté for 5 minutes.
Add garlic and crushed red pepper, cook for 1 minute.
Add tomato and Italian seasoning. Cook for 4-5 minutes.
Slowly pour in chicken broth, stirring to deglaze the pan. Add peppers and sausage, and simmer for 5 minutes.
Toss in cooked pasta along with fresh basil leaves.
Serve immediately.
