Sift flour, salt and baking powder together.
Combine milk, clam juice, or half and half and egg; beat thoroughly.
Add to dry ingredients. Mix just until flour is moistened.
Stir in clams.
Drop batter from tablespoon into deep hot fat (365° to 375°). Fry until golden brown, about 3 minutes.
Drain on absorbent paper.
Makes about 1-½ dozen small fritters.
