Preheat to 375°F (190°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
In a skillet, cook beef, sausage, onion, and garlic until browned. Drain fat.
Add marinara, tomato paste, seasoning, and sugar. Simmer 15 minutes.
Combine ricotta, cottage cheese, Parmesan, and egg in a bowl.
Spread sauce, noodles, cheese mixture, and mozzarella. Repeat layers.
Cover with foil; bake 30 minutes. Uncover; bake 20–25 minutes until golden.
Let stand 10 minutes before slicing; garnish with parsley.
