Cranberry Limoncello Spritz Jug recipe

Cranberry Limoncello Spritz Jug recipe

total time 5 MINS | serves 10 | standard drinks per serve 1

This recipe makes enough for seven to 10 people, depending on your pours. And the best bit? Made from limoncello, prosecco, cranberry juice and soda, one bottle of each will make several batches, so this is giving serious bang for buck per serve. We think that might just nudge it over the line as the ultimate Christmas cocktail.

    Ingredients

    Method

  1. The day before, slice 1 lemon and 1 orange into wheels, layer them in a small round container then fill with water and pop in the freezer (this will become the ice for your jug)

  2. Make the cranberry syrup by stirring sugar into cranberry juice until fully combined

  3. When ready to make the Spritz, remove the frozen fruit block from the container and slice into chunks with a serrated knife, then add to your jug or punch bowl

Pour over the cranberry syrup, then slowly add soda and prosecco being careful not to knock out too much fizz (see tips below)

  4. Add limoncello last, then gently stir from bottom to top

Fill wine glasses with fresh cubed ice, and carefully pour the drink into the glass, or use a ladle if serving from a punch bowl

  5. Garnish with lemon wheels

Notes

A little prep goes a long way in this recipe. It won’t take long, but slicing and freezing your fruit ahead of time is the best way to keep the drink cold in the jug without overdiluting it. Clever!

We also think it’s worth prepping your cranberry syrup at the same time to keep you out of the kitchen and super organised on the day. Just be sure to make double, or even triple, as people are absolutely going to want another glass of this Spritz. The mix will keep in the fridge until you’re ready to serve, and your future frazzled hosting self will thank you.

Finally, if you’re worried about glugging in all that prosecco and soda and losing their bubbly goodness, one hot tip is to pour both down a long spoon into the jug. A bar spoon is perfect, or you could pinch a serving spoon off the table. This will ensure you’re left with the best possible fizzy results because no one likes a Spritz without the spritz.
