Smashed Sweet Potatoes
  1. Cut peeled large sweet potatoes into ¾-inch rounds.

  2. Make a seasoning spread in a small bowl with extra-virgin olive oil, chili powder, ground cumin, kosher salt, ground chipotle, and garlic powder.

  3. Layer the sliced potatoes on a large rimmed baking sheet.

  4. Spoon or brush the seasoning mixture on both sides of the potatoes.

  5. Preheat the oven to 425°F and bake the potatoes until just tender, about 15 to 18 minutes.

  6. Remove the baking sheet from the oven and set the broiler to high.

  7. Use the bottom of a Mason jar or a sturdy glass or bowl to mash the sweet potato rounds.

  8. Broil the flattened potatoes until lightly browned and crispy on the edges, about 3 minutes.

  9. Finish with a sprinkle of flaky salt.
