I did have to make more syrup at the end, and I don’t see how the recipe as written could generate enough syrup to cover the figs when jarring, since you start out with enough to cover them and then cook it down. The texture of the figs at the end is odd, and the flavor is not particularly strong — overall, a lot of time and mess for a not-fantastic result.
These are great! I made them twice; the first time I thought the muffin cups were starting to look too full so I did two pans of twelve each, which was a mistake — it worked much better to make a dozen and fill the cups completely. I also cut back slightly on the salt the second time and was a little more generous with the Nutella.
