I developed a lot of fond in the pot while cooking the bacon and onions. Beware when you add the pasta to the pot: it will absolutely want to boil over. I accidentally used gouda instead of gruyere, but that's definitely an acceptable change. No applesauce, just sliced apples.
This turned out *really* good. I put Lavender in charge of the spice mix, so the cayenne was toned down by about half. It has some Cajun feel and some Caribbean feel.
Only made this one time so far, but it was an inspired recipe, and I shall do it again. The whole point was to find a way to use the Captain Rodney's Temptation of Jezebel Sauce.
